Can i delete symantec liveupdate downloads

I would make sure you are running the latest build of SEP I believe update 5 is the current version. This sounds like a known bug in the original release. This is one product that you need training and a current support contract to be able to download the latest builds and to be able to contact support. To my knowledge this is not configurable and this should not become an issue in the later builds MR3 or One thing that might have occured is that somewhere the old definition may have been corrupt and are not automatically purging properly.

Thanks Grant. Posted AM. I need to know exactly when it schedules to purge old defs and other LU files. Granted they don't take up a lot of space but it doesn't look like anything is being removed. The combined total for those four was MB.

Grant, that link didn't solve any problem. Ok well I can't find the exact time in the manual, I will keep checking and post back but from what I remember it isn't doesn't keep virus definitions for more than 5 days or so.

On my machine the oldest definition was 4 days old. With only four old definitions MB sounds about right. The one thing that bugs me about your case though is the dates. This leads me to believe they really are corrupt and are not being deleted because of that and that link should have taken care of that but who knows? I know that is not a great answer, but if it does that means that those other two are probably just corrupt and then we can figure out a better way to delete them. One question I have is are you running XP or Vista?

Give this a try and post back to let us know how it goes. Cheers, Grant-. If it isn't too much trouble it would be great to post to let us know if that solved your problem. I needed to know exactly how often SEP purges old files and definitions. Umm yes and no, I think I got your origional post, but the date of that old one worried me I thought it might have been corrupt. We have had a few post where that has happened. I have mine set very low less than mb. Hope this helps. View Only. Back to discussions. Expand all Collapse all sort by most recent sort by thread. Jump to Best Answer. Yes you can delete it.
