Can you death long gui

I finished 13 a few months back and now currently playing I encountered something similar to that called the Adamantoise. Try using the Assassination paradigm. Get your team buffed up and when Vannile's summon leaves switch to Assassination and start using the death spell until it's defeated.

This was the same tactic that I used against Adamantoise. I'm not sure if it will work against that but it's worth a shot. Last edited: May 29, Just spamming Death from Assassination will not work against Long Gui.

Adamantoise is vulnerable to the instant kill, but Long Gui is not. Death is used against Long Gui because it bypasses damage reduction all of the full ATB skills do this and can be given an elemental property unique among the full ATB skills , making Death the highest damage spammable move available Highwind and Sovereign Fist have higher damage output, but both will reset the chain ; to maximize that damage, the COM role bonus has to be added in, and that means lots of shifting paradigms--not to mention all the other stuff that needs to be in place when pursuing a damage-based strategy.

I've been using the chain guns to draw out the effect of poison. Usually I can take about half his hp before the summon leaves. I then re-buff with haste, deprotect, deshell, imperil, build up the stagger gauge, then start using death-commando.

If the player can see they will not survive Ultima when Long Gui starts casting it, they can quickly summon an Eidolon, making them temporarily immune to damage. If timed correctly, the player will survive Ultima with no damage sustained and the Eidolon will disable the Long Gui's legs causing it to collapse.

Because summoning an Eidolon will always topple the Long Gui, even a low level party can defeat it if they have enough Elixirs to replenish their TP. The party should disable the legs and stagger Long Gui as quickly as possible to If controlling Sazh, the player should constantly use Blitz when the Long Gui is staggered ; Sazh will deal , damage 99, x6 per Blitz.

Sazh and Vanille both deal more damage per second than Fang, but Fang has high strength and will help kill the Long Gui faster than any character other than Sazh or Vanille. It is possible to double the damage from Death, Blitz and Fang's attacks, by inflicting Long Gui with Imperil and buffing the party with Enfire , but Long Gui is only vulnerable to statuses when in its collapsed state.

If using Vanille's Death to deal most of the damage, a fast strategy is as follows. The player should have at least three TP, and when the battle takes off, quickly go to the "Summon" option, but not actually summon until allies are receiving the starting damage from Long Gui's Ultima. This way, Vanille will not have to be revived, which would dismiss her summon. When Hecatoncheir appears and Long Gui's legs are disabled, Vanille should start off with Poison , which may take up to one or two full sets to hit.

Poison is a useful status because it removes a constant percentage of max health, meaning it is more powerful against enemies with high HP. Hecatoncheir should still have some time left, so one may wish to switch to a Ravager , building up the chain gauge, waiting for the summon's life bar and Gestalt Gauge to empty. After Long Gui is debuffed and the party is buffed, the player can raise the stagger gauge to If not using Vanille or Sazh, Fang is a good party leader due to her Highwind being a quick way to take out the forelegs, and because she knows the upgraded Synergist spells Bravera and Faithra.

Therefore, it is unnecessary to debuff the legs with Saboteurs. Equipment: Vanille needs the Malboro Wand to improve her debuffs and as high a magic stat as possible.

Beyond that the equipment is up to you. Cast Poison on the Long Gui. Cast the other debuffs and recast Poison so that it lasts longer then enter Gestalt mode ideally the Gestalt gauge should be maxed. Only use the attack that uses one point of the Gestalt meter and wait until the last second to use the attack. Once Hecatoncheir has been dismissed, maintain the debuffs, wait for Fang to cast slow and Sazh to cash Haste and Enfire.

Switch to Guerilla and continue to maintain the debuffs while Fang casts Bravera and Faithra. You can start casting Death with Vanille or maintain the debuffs. Once the Long Gui is staggered, switch to Devastation and cast Death.

Immediately switch back to Devastation and repeat the process with Death. If all goes well the monster should be dead by the 4 minute mark. Where you fight the Gigantaur there are four Shaolong Guis and two Long Guis for you to have your way with. The fourth Shaolong Gui is on the cliff just beside the save point. The Shaolong Guis respawn as you run around but you must soft reset for the Long Guis. You must simply have held them at one or more points in the game.

I figured I'd post this for those wanting to farm this boss ; No Death spell, Summon, Shroud, or Technique, so it allows to farm for Gils and Trapezohedrons, without cheats.
